What is an Inspection Chamber?

Playing an important role in the underground drainage system, the inspection chambers enable your drains to be cleaned on a regular basis, essentially preventing the formation of blockages. As well as this, the drain inspection chamber is designed to make it easier for you to assess your underground drainage, whether it be to clean or clear a blockage or a simple inspection to make sure that it’s performing efficiently.

What can it be used for?

There are countless reasons why the drain inspection chamber is used, but generally, the purpose of the inspection chamber is to ensure that you can easily reach your drainage system should you need to remove blockages.

The modern plastic manhole or chamber is designed to limit physical access, making it easier to stop people entering the drainage system without authorisation.
The drain inspection chamber is used when a branch pipe meets the main drainage or when there is a straight run of 22m or more. Another reason why the inspection chambers are used is to accommodate a horizontal change in direction by more than 30°.

Make sure that when you install the chamber, you have enough room to fit a drain rod throughout your underground drainage system.

How does it work?

The plastic manhole is a safe installation to make that’s guaranteed to restrict unauthorised access. Made up of 3 parts; the plastic manhole is simple and easy to use, allowing you to solve any underground drainage problems effectively.

The base is moulded to hold the drainage pipes in place, securing them to inlets and outlets whilst the risers sit above the base. More risers can be added to the base and the cover and frame will sit at ground level, on top of the last riser.
